Welcome to the Team Transformers project site. Team Transformers is a group of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Seniors at the University of Idaho selected to work on a Senior Design project sponsored by Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.
Team Transformers has been tasked with the design and fabrication of a Phase Shifting Transformer. Also known as a PAR (Phase Angle Regulator), a Phase Shifting Transformer allows control of the Reactive Power being transferred through a transmission line. This allows for more efficient use of line capacities. The goal of this project is to create a laboratory model in order for the University of Idaho and SEL to use a PAR in test setups as well as develop protection equipment for like devices.
