The Team

BEN ANDREWS - Senior, Mechanical Engineering.

Hometown: Maple Valley, WA.  One of his significant goals for this course was to work on an interdisciplinary engineering team, and this team is a fantastic opportunity to do so.  Although his education is in Mechanical Engineering, his experience has been largely in electrical power and control systems.  He has done some experimentation in amateur radio power equipment as well as lab work for a company that made control systems for industrial appliances.  He has been interested for many years in both electrical and mechanical systems and is excited to bring the two together on this elecro-mechanical project.  After graduation, he would like to work in either Aerospace or HVAC systems.  In his spare time he participates in recreational athletics (soccer, volleyball, weight training), sings as part of a quartet, plays several musical instruments, works with under-privileged kids, and hangs out with friends.

BRYAN FAZZARI - Electrical Engineering

Bryan is a "super" senior at the University of Idaho, double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Applied Music Performance - Violin. Originally from Walla Walla, WA, Bryan has a variety of interests, including Amateur Radio and flying (he completed his Private Pilot certificate at the age of 18). Bryan is an intern at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc., and enjoys working on a variety of software related challenges. While Electrical Engineering, especially power, holds a great amount of interest for him, Bryan also enjoys writing software and performing as a semi-professional violinist.

CORY GRIFFARD - Mechanical Engineering

Cory Griffard is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho.  He was born in California but has lived in Coeur d’Alene since he was three years old.  He is the oldest of three brothers, and has a pet tarantula.  Cory has spent the past three summers working at a paper mill in Spokane as a laborer.  While on campus, he enjoys playing pool and video games, playing floor hockey and tossing the football around.  Some engineering projects Cory has been involved with include designing a jib crane, water propelled rocket, drawing package for an airplane engine model, the power requirements for a pontoon boat at a specified speed, and designing a phase shifting transformer.  Apart from being an engineer, Cory also plays the alto saxophone in Marching Band.  When he graduates, Cory wishes to stay at the University of Idaho and get a Master’s Degree.

DARIN GOODPASTER - Mechanical Engineering

Darin is a senior in the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Idaho planning to graduate in spring 2010. Born in Kalispell, Montana, he has spent the last 17 years living in Moscow, Idaho. Building computers, playing intramural sports, mountain biking, and snowboarding are a few of his hobbies. He hopes to work in design or consulting
